BlueBRIDGE has been invited to contribute to the Blue Growth Research and Innovation event that will take place on the 17th Novemeber 2017, in Brussels.

Donatella Castelli, CNR-ISTI and BlueBRIDGE Project Coordinator, is contributing to the event in the 'Thematic Sub-Session 3: Marine Data and Digitisation' at 14:30- 15:30 CET.

On 9 November 2017, the Protected Area Impact Maps VRE was introduced in a webinar. This web-application, developed in the BlueBRIDGE project by GRID-Arendal and FAO of UN among others, is used to visualise and report on MPA coverage of ecologically important seafloor features in Marine Protected Areas. The Protected Area Impact Maps Virtual Research Environment (PAIM VRE) provides tools to visualise, analyse and report on a range of ecologically important seafloor features - a key component of Maritime Spatial Planning. The PAIM is a user-friendly and visual tool that shows seafloor features and how these are currently represented in marine protected areas. It was developed in the BlueBRIDGE project by GRID-Arendal and FAO among others. The PAIM VRE is now available! Only 3 steps to access it...

UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network & BlueBRIDGE's Contribution!

The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) set up by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2012, promotes practical problem solving for sustainable development, including the design and implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015 by the United Nations. During the second day of the Conference the BlueBRIDGE project was presented as well as its goals, its connection with SDSN’s SDGs, the relationship with ICRE8 and  its prospects for research and education in general, and its contribution to Blue Growth. 

BlueBRIDGE and ICRE8 Collaboration: Analysing Aquaculture Operation Performance

BlueBRIDGE and ICRE8 are working together in bringing social / environmental impacts into consideration when analysing aquaculture operation performance.

The joint work acts on conceptualizing the monetization of social / environmental impacts of aquaculture  and combining this with the the specific techno-economic and production models of Blue Economy, taking into account data and computational resources in reach.

BlueBRIDGE will be at the DI4R Event in Brussels with the presentation: Supporting Open Science Oriented skills building by Virtual Research Environments as part of the session for Data Science and Skills on the 30th of November from 11:00am-12:00pm CET.
