The EGI conference "Opening science in Europe and in the World" took place 6-8 April in Amsterdam. 

2016 Big Data Conference from Space - BiDS - The D4SCIENCE Infrastructure to Support Academic Courses

Over 30 participants were present as Nadia Nardi, Engineering Ingegneria Informatica and Business Development Manager at BlueBRIDGE, presented a paper on "The D4SCIENCE Infrastructure to Support Academic Courses" at the 2016 Big Data Conference from Space, Tenerife, Spain.

Euragri workshop "Big data in agriculture: consequences for research and research organizations"

Donatella Castelli (CNR-ISTI) gave an introductive talk in the "Towards an e-infrastructure in agriculture?" session at the Euragri workship in Inra, Paris discussing leading an e-infrastructure project in marine research e-Infrastructure and how it refers to a combination of digital technologies (hardware and software), resources (data, services, digital libraries), communications (protocols, access rights and networks), and the people and organisational structures needed to manage them.

EwE Course Hobart 2016

On March 2016 a basic course on the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) modeling approach was held in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The course introduced the current capabilities of the EwE desktop software ( focusing on the advanced features for parameterization of EwE models through online databases such as FishBase and WoRMS.

BlueBRIDGE: Speaking the international language

On 4th of March 2016, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), hosted in Rome, the first BlueBRIDGE External Advisory Board meeting. The meeting saw the participation of a pool of renowned international experts operating in the Blue Growth field that met the BlueBRIDGE consortium to discuss about the needs of their communities and how the BlueBRIDGE services can help them to solve their day to day challenges. Training course in the R environment

From 29 February 2016 to 4 March 2016, ICES organised a Training course in the R environment in Copenhagen, Denmark. The course was held using the BlueBRIDGE underlying infrastructure.

"Ocean BtoB" business meeting, 4 February 2016, France

On the 4th of February, Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique, jointly with 8 industrial clusters, organised the event "Ocean BtoB" with the objective of creating synergies and promote the emergence of new technological partnerships in the sea sector.

The event was a success with over 180 participants and 100 business f2f meetings. The event was the occasion to raise awareness about BlueBRIDGE among the members of the business clusters. At this purpose the BlueBRIDGE dissemination material was distributed at the event.

BlueBRIDGE Presentation at the "Aquaculture Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia", 27 - 28 January 2016

BlueBRIDGE was present at the forum on “Aquaculture Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia” Aquaculture Trade Exhibition and Technical Seminar on Aquaculture Technologies which took place in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia,  27–28 January 2016. Kostas Seferis, i2s SA, presented how BlueBRIDGE can increase the competitiveness of aquaculture business and make aquafarming SMEs more environmentally friendly.

Analysis and Design of information system

Prof. Yannis Vassiliou, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), during the winter semester held the undergraduate course: “Analysis and Design of information system” (25 – 28 January 2016) at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. 50 students were trained on e-infrastructures, VREs in general and on infrastructures' architecture and standards.
